I’m really happy to share I got a short story into an anthology centered around the spookier side to the winter holiday season, called “The White Witche’s Hat & other Yuletide ghost stories” by Bindweed Magazine. You can order a copy of it here, if you’d like.

The story I wrote focuses on the idea of traditions and how sometimes I think there can be a more sinister side to that idea in that some may do something that might be completely illogical or a horrible burden because it’s a “tradition.”

I left an open-ended question in the story about what happened to the current groundskeeper at a cemetery. I’m assuming he died, but I don’t know. Maybe he escaped. Did he even want to be there of was he forced, too? It’s all interesting for me to think about, anyway.

I also put a gray area into the story in that forcing this kid and their sister into a tradition they want no part of is evil, but it’s for the sake of making ghosts happy during the holidays. Do the ends justify the means?

For anyone wanting to enjoy the tradition of ghost stories during the holidays, I hope you’ll consider picking up a copy!
